STMicroelectronics extends its portfolio of STSPIN monolithic motor drivers with the STSPIN8 series. The STSPIN8 series drivers simplify design solutions and boost motor efficiency thanks to a wide application voltage range, standby mode in idle state, RDS(ON) as low as 500 mΩ, and a full set of integrated protection functions, all in a compact package.
STSPIN8 Series Includes
These three monolithic devices simplify design, save space, and are optimized for stepper (STSPIN820, with a position resolution of 256 microsteps per full step), 3-phase brushless motors (STSPIN830), and dual DC brushed (STSPIN840) applications. They operate from a supply voltage from 7 V to 45 V, over a wide current and temperature range, and can be forced in a low consumption state (with standby current consumption down to less 45 µA), which allows significant power savings. Available in a 4 mm x 4 mm QFN package, they benefit from comprehensive built-in protection features including overcurrent, overtemperature, and short-circuit for high ruggedness and reliability even in harsh industrial environments.
Bipolar Stepper Motor Solution
STMicroelectronics offers a complete evaluation package for integrated low voltage motor drives enabling easy exploration of the STSPIN820. X-Nucleo boards for bipolar stepper motors (X-NUCLEO-IHM14A1), together with the NUCLEO-F030R8 board, combined with the X-CUBE-SPN14 expansion package for STM32Cube to give users full control of their low voltage motor.
