TDK-Lambda's HFE line of 1600 W and 2500 W frontend power supplies are designed for use in distributed, hot-pluggable and redundant power systems.
The HFE series power supplies operate off universal AC inputs of from 85 VAC to 265 VAC with active PFC and provide well-regulated DC output of 12 V, 24 V or 48 V. With the 19-inch rack-mount enclosure, up to four (HFE2500) or five (HFE1600) supplies can be paralleled with automatic load-sharing to provide up to 7600 W (HFE1600) or 9500 W (HFE2500) of output power. A popular option is an integral MCU in each supply that allows for remote programming, monitoring, and status reporting via an isolated I²C and PMBus interface. Additionally, an energy saving feature of the I²C/PMBus interface is that rack-mounted HFE1600 supplies can be individually turned on or off as the total system load demand varies over time. This is also known as "load-shedding".
Key applications for the HFE series include data centers, wireless base stations, industrial automation, telecommunications, RF power amplifiers, network equipment, storage systems, and distributed power architectures.
The HFE1600 supplies measure 1.61" H x 3.35" W x 11.8" L, and the HFE2500 supplies measure 1.61" H x 4.21" W x 12.8" L. Each can be used individually, or up to four (HFE1600) or five (HFE2500) can be mounted in an 1U-high 19-inch rack enclosure to form a paralleled connected, load sharing, hot swap, N + M redundant 7.6k W (HFE1600) or 9.5 kW (HFE2500) power system. Should a fault occur, each supply has an internal OR-ing MOSFET switch that will automatically disconnect it from the load and other paralleled supplies. Additionally, alarm signals and LED indicators are provided to identify a faulty unit. For added power, up to two rack-mounted enclosures can be parallel or series connected.
